PRACTICE AND GAME SCHEDULING PROCEDURES

Coaches request their preferences for practice fields, days and times.  Every effort is made to accommodate each coach's request.  Due to the extreme shortage of practice fields, our teams must split their time on the fields with one team practicing from 4:00p to 6:00p, and another practicing afterwards from 6:00p to 8:00p.  PARENTS CANNOT REQUEST SPECIFIC PRACTICE DAYS AND/OR FIELDS WHEN REGISTERING THEIR PLAYERS.
Please understand what an undertaking it is to accommodate all of our teams on what few fields there are and on what days they are assigned to us.  NJJBA does NOT have exclusive use of ANY field and shares with Girl's Softball, Parochial Teams, Soccer,
YMCA, and other Baseball Leagues.  Please make every effort to assist your coach with getting your player to practices on time and picked up on time.
League games are scheduled and played on every day of the week, including Sundays, Mother's Day, Father's Day, and other holidays.  All coaches are given the opportunity to reschedule games within two weeks after receiving their season schedule when they know they cannot field at least 9 players at a scheduled game for the following reasons ONLY:

  • School activities, i.e. outdoor lab, class trips, special programs, graduation, etc.
  • Church activities, i.e. First Communion, Confirmation, retreats.
  • Youth Organization Events, i.e. Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts.  EXCLUDES sporting events other than baseball (soccer, basketball, football, hockey, swim/dive teams games or camps).

Scheduled games cannot and will not be rescheduled because of family vacations, birthday parties, Water World,  Elitch's, or Rockies games.  Games are a FORFEIT LOSS if a team fails to field at least 9 players within 20 minutes of the scheduled game time.
Please keep all of this in mind when registering your child for baseball and any other summer sports, and when planning your family's summer activities.  Each and every NJJBA team depends upon attendance commitments from it's players in order to have an enjoyable and successful season.
Important dates to note when schedules are published in April are:

  • First and Last Game Dates
  • State Tournament dates

Schedule information and field location maps will only be available on the Jefferson County Junior Baseball League (JCJBL) website this year @ www.jcjbl.org.

Fall Baseball 2001   by Jay Cleary
Fall Baseball 2001 brought seven weeks of perfect baseball weather (the first weekend was postponed due to wet fields) in which 20 teams played 8 games.  The different divisions included the age groups of 9-10, 11-12, 13-14 year olds playing in next years age and a 7-8 year olds playing kid pitch and machine pitch.  In addition, there was an instructional machine pitch league for those who are just starting out or a little experience.  The games were non-competitive with no score being kept and coaches were encouraged to play their players in several positions.  A special thanks go out to Lois Archuleta and Brian Tipton who helped with walk in registration and Brent Mullinicks for scheduling the umpires.  A special thanks goes out to Tracy Robbins and Rod Pilcher for running the machine pitch programs.
Stay tuned to Fall Baseball, Release 2002 for improved enhancements.

Coaches Corner
Nothing may be more rewarding to an adult than seeing a child grow through your teachings.  In baseball, a player learns many important "life lessons": working hard, how to win and lose graciously and team play.  The coach is a major contributor to these lessons and NJJBA is a great organization in which to experience them.
North Jefferson Jr. Baseball Association commits resources to the development of its coaches.  A Coach's Clinic given by area high school coaches and First Aid/CPR training are just two examples of the support NJJBA provides.
Whether it's an assistant or head coach, NJJBA wants its coaches to succeed, not necessarily by wins and losses, but definitely through the development of the players.  To get involved on the coach's level, you can visit our web site at www.njjba.org and submit your coach's application, or fill out an application at our walk-in registrations.  NJJBA is always looking for quality adults interested in the sport of baseball.
There are also a lot of resources on our website for parents and players to enjoy.  One example, for the players, are links to drills they can work on individually during the off-season.  There are also feedback forms, online registrations forms and calendars available for the parents.
We all look forward to another fun year of baseball.
